wanted: ideal enclosure for W200S woofer

    Hello,

I'm looking for a wellproofed enclosure for W200S. Does anyone have "the wright concept" ? I want the basses to sound deep, dry and 'under control'. I'm not sure it will sound good in a bassreflex (like the 'Startlet')
All of your reactions are welcome!

    Thanx,

    John (the netherlands)

just try http://boxsim.de/download/Boxsim098.zip and do some trial and error testing

the programm is really nice and brings good results

I would always put a W type woofer in a closed cabinet
(got two W300S running here (closed box) but didn't have the time for excessive testing, but I think, they sound great)

      Hi!

I've been trying both: BR an closed box.
after hearing the W200S in a CB with an active Bass boost I'm through with BR!
I think 20-30l with a bassboost of about +6dB at 30Hz will sound very reasonable.

but if you don't have the opportunity to equalize active, check out the W20.39.

Hello Diabolo and hello again Che!

As you might have guessed: my experiment with the W300NG extra has failed. They interferred with the W200S way to much. It went totally out of control. I think due to faseproblems. They just can't keep up with the speed of the W200S (I knew this could be a problem but didn't think it would be a BIG problem). Anyway; I'm now more confinced I should stick to a sealed enclosure.

        Thank you both!

        John

          By the way Che,

What is the W20.39 exactly and where can I find it?

          Thanx, John

what du you want to do with such a small subwoofer like the W200S????

for home cinema it is too small (in my opinion)

why not use the W300NG??? it has about double the membrane-size of the W200S

                Hello Diabolo,

I want to use it in a 'normal' stereoset, not for homecinema, not as a subwoofer. I'll use them up to 1500Hz, then the DSM38FFL will take it over up to 7000Hz and the DTW97 will 'finish it off' .Apart from that: the W300NG just doesn't have the quality the W200S has. I think I will use them later in a 'partybox', together with some 'leftover' speakers I still have somewhere.
                Does this answer your question?

                Greetings, John

just test something with boxsim, it has all the visaton chassis inside

you could make a cabinet with bassreflex and test it
if you don't like it, just close the bassreflex-hole and you have a closed box
the size would be ok because bassreflex boxes are always bigger than closed ones
and a bit extra volume is never wrong

As long as the Qts doesn't go to much "out of line" off course.

of course, but you have some tolerance

a driver that plays well in 30 liters closed box would still play acceptable in 25 liters or 50 liters

                          You're right,

I have made a plan now to build an enclosure of about 50 liters with the possibility to change the volume without to much trouble. With and without a BRport. It will take some time but it will be fun too! I'll let you know what the results are...
