Yes it is a matte finish. Gloss cannot be used since the reflections from the projection screen ruin the whole effect.Original geschrieben von We-Ha

The picture is quite dark, I've sorted that out now.Kommentar

The unfinished part of the speaker is missing a panel which is being stained and then will be attached to the cabinet later.Original geschrieben von metal

New boxes, huh?
They're looking quite nice. Really. Good finish (expect the sides, which have to be finished yet)...
Please post more pics...

What do you think of veneering the sides with dark red wood like Bubinga or Mahogany?

Would be very successfull...
Veneering is quite simple, just follow Mr. Woofa's Website or have a glimpse of it here...Kommentar

To be honest I don't have a clue when it comes to veneering, its something that I've never done. I normally shy away from it and just use real wood then stain.
Thanks for the link to Mr. Woofa's veneering tips. Unfortunately I can't read German put I get the general idea when passing the text through BabelFish translator.
At the moment I'm just planning on finishing the side with stained 3mm birch ply but if I felt confident enough I'd prefer to veneer. Looks like I may do some more research into the subject.
Cheers,

Translating websites with Babelfish sucks like sh*t...
But perhaps Mr. Woofa will translate the page sooner or later.
(It would be the first usable veneering guide in english on the web...)Kommentar
