    Welcom at Visaton forum!

I think, we have seen that box, long time before this project was finished.

Congratulations: is really a well job! Respect!

    Sorry for my English

      Thanks for the warm welcome.

Can I ask where you have seen the design before?

And you certainly speak english far, far better than I speak German

            Cheers Mr. Freezer

I'm sure that I'm hearing what exactely every other owner of the topas hears. Since the internals of this design are exactely the same as the design laid out by Visaton. The curved sides are purely cosmetic and are not coupled to the internal volume in anyway. The internal volume has also been strongly reinforced with a matrix style arrangement that features 35mm holes throughout.

I absolutely love the sound these speakers produce, so refined and airy. The MHT12 and ti100 combination never ceases to amaze me. And the work that hobby hifi did with the transmission line is pure genius. The bass response is incredible for a 4" driver. I'd also say the bass is the best part of the topas, very textured, beautifully smooth and excellent definition.

The best speakers that I've listen to for extended periods of time are a friends B&W Nautilus 804 and we both agree the the Topas are the better speaker in the majority of area's, only one where we prefered the 804 was in the midrange and specifically with vocals. So its telling that an £800 pair of speakers are preffered over a £3000 world acclaimed design!

I am from the UK as well.

Also I didn't realise that the old version of the custom topas had been discussed on this very forum. It seemed that nearly everyone thought they look 'terrible' I'd have to agree too.

I hope the new designs meet with approval this time around.

Any questions and I'd be happy to answer them.

              The speakers are really beautiful.

What kind of wood did you use? (for the curved sides)

Or better: how are they built?

              EDIT: I found it

                Thanks again Mr. E

The wood is a light oak plywood which has had a 5 coat shellac film added to give a deep gloss and enhance the grain.

If you need any tips on construction I'd be more than happy to pass on what I've learned from my mistakes
