    TL sub mit w300s

    Hallo allen!

Mein deutsch ist SEHR slecht, so ich schreibe mein post in english.

Today I was wondering if it would be possible to replace the TIW 300 for the W 300S/8 in order to make a TL sub.

For as far I know the ideal Qts factor should be 0.4 for TL. But the TIW 300 has a Qts from 0.28, and the W300 S/8 has a Qts of 0.33.
That approaches the ideal value a bit more!

Can anyone tell me if it's possible?

    grußen!

Und hier mein (scheiße) probiersel eins Deutsch ^^

Ist es moglich der W300s/8 zu gebraugen, und nicht der TIW 300 fur die TL Sub 30?

To take the W 300 is a waste of time and money!
Don`t believe in qts for TL.
    More important is xMax!

Musst die xMax dan groß oder klein zijn?

Du schreibt in dein post das der w 300 ein verspillung von geld und zeit ist, villeicht haßt du est nicht gut gelessen. Ich hatte es uber die w300S!

Xmax has to be as big as possible. Xmax stands for linear excursion.

          TIW 300 Xmax +/- 7,5mm
          W300S Xmax +/- 5,25mm
So, the difference is not too big...

If you could find a W400S on ebay, I would recommend building a TL Sub with W400S + W300S.

            Hehe,

Yeah of that I was thinkin' too, but unfortunately the e-bay market in holland isn't so big as in Germany.

Why is the production of the W 400 stopped actually?

So what are the actual requirments for TL?

              TL-Sub normal, Tiw400+Tiw360

              TL-Sub half Linearea, Tiw400+Tiw360

TL-Sub normal, W300s+W300s (brown curve=frequency response, like the curves above)

As you can see, your TL might go very well if you cut it at 50hz with about 12dB/okt. It might even be better than the Original TL, although SPLMax would not be that high.

              TL-Sub normal, Tiw360+Tiw360

              Not very linear, extended bass@20-30hz
              Might go well with Filter@50hz

                Of course I ment the W 300 S, sorry.

My opinion: If I would build the TL, I took the best speaker i could get.

May be, the simulations with a W 300 S are ok, but they say nothing about stiffness of the membran, impulse and....

Some one I know calles the w-series 'flubber woofers' :-p
It was just an idea I got, and I wanted to share that with you.
Perhaps it will appear in the Cheap Trick series once

You say that the Xmax of the W300s is 5,25 mm. Where did you find this information? Do you have to calculate it?
Because the information is not shown on visaton.

yes, it's (height of voice coil - height of air gap)/2
